Forget “Math class is tough!” Barbie. Girls rock at math, especially when we give them the support and encouragement they need to get over that middle-school bump when academic self-doubt starts to sneak its way into their teen brains. Plus, it’s important to get teachers on board to understand that middle-school girls who don’t raise their hands every two seconds in class, or who seem shy or hesitant when called on, might be more worried about what the others are thinking about them, but really do now the answers and who to work through the problems when given a chance.
