Stop Multitasking NOW!

tightrope_sharksIf elected officials want to ban marijuana, even though some states are legalizing it, maybe they want to take a look at outlawing multitasking. That’s right, they have something in common — how they impact your brain.

I’ve noticed recently that my daughter is on the road to becoming a multitasker, as someone who listens to music and does homework at the same time.  But when I saw her lying on her bed, homework open, music playing AND her smartphone open to some new game, I knew it was time to examine my own multitasking persona in the example I’m setting for her.

And it turns out, I am right to take a step back. (Rather than leaning in too far!)

So what would happen if we all went back to how things were in the “dinosaur days?”  You know — before our handheld devices became so “precious?” And before each one of us was expected to manage the workload of several employees rather than just one?
Ahhhhh.  Isn’t that a lovely thought?
