As the 2014 mid-term elections come to a close this evening, it looks like many of the national races are going to be too close to call when the polls close. So many analyses of various races are withing the infamous ‘margin of error,’ so who knows how late we’ll all be up to see if the Republicans take over the Senate, how many run-off races there will have to be between now and the end of the year, and whether Hillary Clinton‘s 18 state ‘I’ll help you now if you help me in 2016’ tour helped those candidates.
So, as you’re glued to CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, or whether you’re going to ignore it all and catch up on ‘Madam Secretary‘ or your favorite Shonda Rhimes show, here’s a special cocktail just for mid-term election evening to help soothe those rattled election day nerves:
The ‘Washington’ Cocktail
As Barry Goldwater said perfectly: “If everybody in this town connected with politics had to leave town because of chasing women and drinking, you would have no government.”
1 1/2 ounces dry vermouth
3/4 ounce brandy
2 dashes sugar syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1. Fill cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Add vermouth, brandy, sugar syrup and bitters
4. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
