How is it possible that it has been 44 years since the first person walked on the moon? It’s something we have actually been talking about, as my daughter recently, at a book signing event, met the second man to walk on the moon, Buzz Aldrin. I remember how excited most people were at the prospect of Apollo 11 and how we anxiously watched the fuzzy pictures being beamed back to Earth. I’m not sure my soon-to-be eighth grader fully appreciated the idea of the first moon landing, but then again she has grown up in a world where astronauts going into space involve things like the international space station.
But I still hold my breath when I watch this video:
So what will be the next space-related “first” that involved a woman? If one of my daughter’s best friends has anything to say about it, she’ll be the first woman to visit Mars!
