What’s worse — hurting your ankle playing football in high school or losing both your legs as a result of combat injuries? Seems like an easy enough question, doesn’t it? But apparently when it comes to getting a veteran’s advantage when applying for a small business loan, apparently a sports injury suffered at a military prep school can trounce the injuries suffered by Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.)
Now, we’re not trying to diminish anyone’s particular pain and suffering, but if you’re a business person looking for special help from the government as a result of one, you really shouldn’t be looking for any sympathy from an Iraq war vet who lost both her legs, and still could lose one of her arms.
Enjoy this congressional hearing clip and ask yourself, how much chutzpah do you have to have?
Of course, if you’re a fan of Red State, you already know that some conservatives think Duckworth was being a big old “meany” to to Castillo. Juvenile or just putting someone in his place for unfairly gaming the system? And I have a feeling if a male veteran had said the same things to this businessman (oh, like John McCain?), the right would be admiring of his truth-telling
