Women online don’t write about politics, current events, culture or provide commentary and analysis? Think again! The Broad Side features real women writing about their real opinion commentary and real political views (and a few guys, too!).
After writing Mothers of Intention: How Women and Social Media are Revolutionizing Politics in America (Bright Sky Press), two things became abundantly clear — there are plenty of women writing about politics, social issues, how our culture impacts our lives, and important issues of the day and there needed to be a place to collect it all so people will stop saying, “Women online? Oh, they only write about potty training and playgrounds.”
That thinking is so wrong that The Broad Side needed to be born. The mission of The Broad Side is to gather women who are writing about the most-discussed and important issues of the day from a fresh perspective, not in that stale, wonky, inside-the-Washington, D.C.-beltway kind of narrative.
While The Broad Side will mostly be a place to showcase all the women’s commentary that those talking head shows and op-ed pages are missing, we’ll definitely invite some men to contribute, as well. After all, new media women may be running the world, but we know some pretty cool guys who hang out online, as well!
Please enjoy The Broad Side!
